a.  Bus Service

• non-AC : Leaving for Toraja or vise versa at around 8 a.m and 8 p.m.  The recent ticket price is  Rp60.000.
• AC  :  Leaving for Tana Toraja from Makassar or Vise versa at around 9 a.m, 10 a.m, 1 p.m, and 10 p.m.  The recent ticket price is  Rp80.000 - Rp100.000.
• Some non AC bus companies ( Makassar - Tana Toraja ) : BATUTUMONGA, SETUJU, PELANGI, TIKULEMBANG, BORLA INDAH, TORAJA INDAH, TORAJA RIA, MITRA MUDA, DISCHO INDAH, SUMBER SEDERHANA.  Find their offices at the Makassar Bus terminal and at Makale and Rantepao.
• Some  AC bus companies ( Makassar - Tana Toraja ) : FA. LITHA, ALAM INDAH, BINTANG PRIMA, NEW LIMAN, METRO PERMAI.

b. Rental car

• Rental cars can be found around Hasanuddin Airport parking area or belong to a travel agent or a car rental service.The recent price one way to Tana Toraja is Rp 800.000-Rp 1.400.000. The price is negoitable according to the type of the car.

c. Other Information

• Always ask for the ticket if you take the bus service.
• The journey  from Makassar to Tana Toraja by land takes between 7 and 8 hours.  Stopping by in certain areas for resting and having some food or drink is very possible, especially if you take a rental car.
• If you take a bus service, the bus is usually stopping by once for resting and having some food and drink.

2. Air Transportation

From the Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar, one can fly to Tana Toraja or vise versa.  The name of the airline is SMAC ( Sabang Merauke Air Charter ).  The ticket can be booked in  Hasanuddin Airport and in the office of PT. Toraja Permai in Rantepao, Tana Toraja.  The flight schedule is TUESDAY and FRIDAY WEEKLY. Leaving for Tana Toraja at 10.00  a.m and leaving back to Makassar at 11.30 a.m. The flight takes about 55 MINUTES.  The ticket price is Rp 204.000 ( excluded tax and boarding pass). The flight  is using CASSA type airplane.
